ETX Bell to Launch as Hybrid Print-Digital Newspaper Serving East Texas

BULLARD, Texas (ETX Bell) — A new community newspaper, ETX Bell, is set to launch this spring, bringing local news, sports, business updates, and community engagement to areas south of Tyler, including towns between Tyler and Jacksonville. We call this area the “Bell Area” because the major cities/towns in the area are mapped out like a bell.  We will be servicing areas such as Whitehouse, Bullard, Troup, Flint, Noonday, Frankston and Coffee City.

ETX Bell, a modern hybrid publication, will seamlessly blend traditional print journalism with digital media, offering readers a more interactive experience. The newspaper will launch first with two e-editions, followed by its first printed copies in mid to late April 2025.

A New Approach to Local News

ETX Bell is part of ETX Hometown Media, a locally owned media company focused on delivering reliable, community-centered journalism in innovative ways. By integrating print with digital features such as QR codes, video content, additional photos, and online resources, the publication aims to bridge the gap between traditional newspapers and modern media consumption habits.

“We believe local news still plays a vital role in our communities, but it must evolve to reach today’s readers,” said Shawn Larson, owner of ETX Hometown Media. “With ETX Bell, we’re creating a platform where print, digital, and social media work together seamlessly, giving readers and advertisers a more engaging and dynamic experience.”

Community-Driven Journalism

The newspaper will focus on hyperlocal coverage, including stories on schools, local businesses, sports, and community events. ETX Bell will also invite residents to submit news, story ideas, and photos, ensuring that the publication truly represents the voices of East Texans.

A sister publication, ETX Bridges, will complement ETX Bell by offering feature-centered community storytelling, highlighting local heroes, businesses, and culture in a magazine-style format.

Opportunities for Readers and Businesses

ETX Bell will offer multiple ways for the community to get involved, including:

  • Story submissions: Residents can share news tips, personal stories, and community highlights.
  • Advertising packages: Local businesses will have print and digital ad opportunities, including SEO-driven promotions and social media integration.
  • Job opportunities: The publication is seeking writers, photographers, videographers, and social media contributors to join its growing team.

“We want this to be more than just a newspaper—we want it to be a communication hub for the community,” Larson said. “ETX Bell is a place where news, business, and local culture come together to keep East Texas informed and connected.”
