The May 19th Troup City Council meeting marked a shift in local leadership as two newly elected council members were officially sworn in. Susan Adams in place 5 and Nolan Jeske in place 6.
The meeting saw a notable increase in public attendance, with many community members showing up to support the incoming council members—a strong contrast to the relatively small and quiet turnout of previous city council meetings.
In addition to the swearing-in ceremonies, the council elected a new mayor pro tem. Council member Brandi Barton, who represents Place 3, was nominated by Mayor Jeff Hale and approved by a vote of the council. Mayor Hale expressed confidence in Barton’s leadership, stating that she would do a great job running a meeting if needed.
The energy in the room reflected a renewed public interest in city governance, and the presence of so many community members—a hopeful start for the new council.
