ARP, Texas – Arp ISD is teaming up with the City of Arp to host the inaugural Tiger Pride 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, July 12, beginning at 8 a.m. at Bill Herrington Tiger Stadium.
The event is free and open to all ages, with no registration required in advance—although participants are encouraged to pre-register by emailing Mayor Terry Lowry at t.lowry@cityofarptx.net. Walk-up participants on race day are also welcome.
“Just show up,” Mayor Lowry said.
The 5K course will wind through the streets and neighborhoods of Arp, offering a fun and active way for the community to come together. Participants do not need to reside in Arp or be affiliated with Arp ISD to take part.
Brookshire’s in Overton is donating bananas and oranges for runners, and the City of Arp is providing bottled water.
Several area high school cross country runners, including athletes from Arp High School, plan to use the race as a warm-up for their fall seasons.
Mayor Lowry said he expects between 40 and 50 participants and welcomes help spreading the word to boost turnout.
For more information, contact Mayor Lowry at 903-539-8438 or via email. To speak with Arp ISD cross country coach Joel Avance or another district administrator, additional contacts are available upon request.
