TROUP, Texas – In a heartwarming twist on public service, the Troup Police Department turned into a wedding venue this week after receiving an unexpected, and romantic, request.
The department shared that it was contacted last week by a local couple who asked, “Can someone get married at the Police Department?” Rather than turn them away, the department responded with support, saying, “Why stand in the way of love?”
On the day of the ceremony, Lt. Stowers officiated the wedding, with the couple’s family in attendance to witness the moment. The bride and groom, both Troup locals, said the unique setting would make their wedding story one to remember.
The department extended its best wishes to the newlyweds in a public message, saying, “We were happy to help make it happen. Here’s to a joyful and exciting beginning to their life together.”
The event highlighted a lighter side of law enforcement and the department’s dedication to serving the community, even in life’s most personal moments.
