ARP- The Tigers hardwood squad will have a new leader, with a new title, and a whole lot of Go Get ‘Em.
Conner Weeks, will be replacing Brian Malone after a three-year stint.
Malone led the Tigers to the playoffs two of the three seasons at the helm.
Weeks is a former 2017 graduate of White Oak. The former Roughneck was four sport performer in football, basketball, golf, and tennis.
Garnering All District accolades in three of the four sports (football, basketball, tennis), Weeks stayed close to home for college.
Weeks attended and graduated from Stephen F. Austin, in Nacogdoches, earning his degree in Kinesiology.
“I’m honored to serve as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Arp High School,” Weeks said about his new post adding, “This marks my fourth year in education and coaching, and I’m excited to bring passion, energy, and a strong sense of unity to the basketball program, the Arp ISD and the community.”
Coach Weeks began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Hallsville High School from 2021-22.
Out west to actually begin his coaching career at Lubbock Monterey in ‘22-23, as Varsity Football assistant and JV hoops.
The following year was teaching classes at Laura Bush Middle School in Lubbock, while serving as assistant basketball coach at Liberty Cooper.
Last year, Weeks was teaching, and assistant hoops mentor at Tulia High School.
As a late hire, Coach Weeks had the opportunity to work with a nucleus of his players in the Overton summer league.
“Coming in when I did it was too late for any summer showcases but I got to see most of our guys in Summer League at some point,” Weeks said about his new crew, “and most of our guys play other sports too, and my outlook is success breeds success and hopefully football success will feed over into basketball, basketball to baseball, and so on.”
Weeks will also bolster the staff as an assistant in football, and track along with his new head coaching duties.
“I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to be here and look forward to building something special with our athletes, staff, and fans,” Weeks said in closing, “Now let’s get to work!”
