The Smith County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a house fire that injured one boy in Lindale on Friday.
At 11:16 a.m. August 8, firefighters responded to a residence on the 12900 block of County Road 374 in Lindale.
A juvenile male was found asleep inside the home and was transported to a Tyler hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
A preliminary investigation revealed an overloaded electrical power strip within the area of fire origin.
Smith County Fire Marshal Chad Hogue urges residents to not overload power strips with appliances, such as refrigerators, A/C units, microwaves, or space heaters.
