Arp ISD Adopts New Math Curriculum

By Courtney Pannel-Smith

In a letter sent home to parents Wednesday October 8th, Arp ISD announced that the district will be adopting a new math curriculum this year called Bluebonnet. Bluebonnet is a statewide Open Educational Resource (OER) program that is approved by the Texas State Board of Education.

This program is designed to help developing students build strong foundational skills in mathematical reasoning and problem-solving. Bluebonnet features a spiral method, which means core concepts are introduced, revisited, and reinforced throughout the year and through different grade levels. This approach is meant to promote deeper understanding and long-term retention.

The letter states that while initial math grades may be lower, this is to be expected as the students adjust. All math teachers have received training on the curriculum and are ready to support students through this transition. Ultimately, student progress is expected to improve as they progress and gain more confidence in the curriculum.

Parents or guardians with questions or concerns are encouraged to speak with their child’s teacher or a school administrator.
