WHITEHOUSE, Texas — A familiar landmark in Whitehouse may soon be getting a fresh look.
The City Council is exploring options to replace the community sign that once stood at the intersection of Highway 110 and FM 346 before it was severely damaged in a 2024 storm. During the March 25 Council meeting, city staff were directed to begin gathering ideas, designs, and pricing for a potential replacement.

Shortly after the storm, a dedicated community volunteer stepped up, offering to repair the sign. The individual had previously helped restore the sign with historical touches and hoped to do so again. But after further inspection, the damage proved too extensive, and it became clear the sign would need to be fully replaced.

City officials expressed gratitude for the volunteer’s effort and commitment to preserving a piece of Whitehouse history. “Their willingness to help and even research historical materials speaks to the spirit of this community,” a city spokesperson said.
With original materials difficult to find, the Council has now asked staff to work with local sign companies to create renderings and cost estimates. These options will be presented to the Council at its next regular meeting on April 22.
The hope is to find a solution that honors the sign’s original character while creating something new the community can be proud of for years to come.
