Shawn Larson – Publisher | Managing Editor | Multimedia Journalist
Shawn Larson is a lifelong storyteller, media executive, and community advocate with more than 25 years of experience across journalism, digital media, and business development. He is the Founder, Publisher, and Managing Editor of ETX Hometown Media, a modern multimedia company serving East Texas through storytelling, video production, and community-driven news.
At ETX Hometown Media, Shawn oversees The ETX Bell newspaper and ETX Bridge, a lifestyle and business publication, while also producing digital content, community videos, and podcasts.
His work brings together print journalism, digital marketing, and local engagement — creating a bridge between traditional community values and modern communication tools.
Before launching ETX Hometown Media, Shawn served as Publisher and General Manager for Northeast Texas Publishing LP, managing The Cass County Citizens Journal-Sun and The Atlanta Citizens Journal. During that time, he revitalized sales operations, guided editorial direction, and launched one of the company’s first in-house podcast and video studios — helping small-town newspapers adapt to the digital era.
In addition to his publishing work, Shawn has written and edited hundreds of articles, community features, and business profiles, focusing on local impact stories that highlight the people and organizations driving East Texas forward. His hands-on approach means he’s often behind the camera filming a community event, designing a layout, or interviewing local leaders — a reflection of his belief that effective communication starts with being personally involved.
Throughout his career, Shawn has also been an entrepreneur and innovator. He previously founded LiteHouse Media, a marketing and consulting firm, and CafeProducts.com, one of the early restaurant equipment e-commerce platforms in the U.S. He has also owned and managed Smoffees Café & Bistro, which gave him valuable firsthand experience in small business operations, customer relations, and team management — insight he continues to bring to his media work today.
Shawn’s leadership philosophy is rooted in community, integrity, and creativity. He believes media should not only inform but also connect — building trust, visibility, and opportunity for the people it serves. Through ETX Hometown Media, he continues to produce meaningful, locally focused content while offering professional services like video production, advertising design, web development, and social media marketing.
Whether reporting from a city council meeting, producing a feature video, or consulting with a local business, Shawn’s goal remains the same: to create media that matters — authentic, community-centered stories that bring East Texas together.0
