In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, several government offices, schools, and public services across the Tyler area will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Government Offices

  • Federal government offices

  • State of Texas offices

  • Smith County non-emergency offices

  • City of Tyler offices

  • City offices in Bullard, Whitehouse, Troup, Frankston, and Arp

Emergency services, including police, fire, and EMS, will remain operational.

Schools

The following school districts will be closed with no classes scheduled:

  • Tyler ISD

  • Bullard ISD

  • Whitehouse ISD

  • Troup ISD

  • Arp ISD

  • Frankston ISD

Several private and charter schools in the area will also observe the holiday.

Public Services

  • U.S. Post Offices will be closed, with no regular mail delivery

  • Most banks and financial institutions will be closed

  • City of Tyler transit services will not operate

  • Solid waste and recycling services in Tyler will follow a modified holiday schedule later in the week

Libraries & Public Facilities
