Arp ISD has announced the hiring of Dr. Josh Tremont as the district’s new assistant superintendent, bringing more than a decade of educational leadership experience to the district.

Dr. Tremont most recently served as Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment at Chapel Hill ISD. He has worked in education for 14 years and has held administrative positions for more than a decade. In addition to his public education experience, he serves as an adjunct professor teaching graduate-level educational leadership courses at East Texas Baptist University and East Texas A&M University.

Arp ISD Superintendent Shannon Arrington praised Tremont’s leadership qualities during the hiring process, citing his thoughtful approach, commitment to growth, and genuine interest in the school community.

Throughout his career, Tremont has served as a math teacher, assistant principal, and principal. While leading Laneville ISD from 2016 to 2020, he helped oversee significant academic gains, including improved student performance on state assessments.

Tremont said his initial focus in Arp will be building relationships, listening to stakeholders, and supporting teachers and campus leaders. He emphasized the importance of providing students with high-quality instruction, strong relationships, and opportunities that prepare them for success after graduation.

A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, Tremont earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Lamar University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Texas A&M University–Commerce. His doctoral dissertation was recognized as Outstanding Dissertation of the Year by the Texas Council of Professors of Educational Administration.

District officials expressed excitement about the experience, vision, and leadership Tremont will bring to Arp ISD as the district continues its focus on student achievement and continuous improvement.
