City of Troup Adopts 2026 Holiday Schedule

In SCHOOLS, Troup ISD
January 31, 2026

Each year, the Troup City Council adopts the City of Troup Holiday Schedule to establish
official days off for city employees. The City of Troup’s holiday schedule is based on the Smith
County Holiday Schedule, with one notable exception: the City of Troup does not observe Smith
County’s Administrative Day.
Rather than including an Administrative Day, which in Smith County is granted at the
discretion of individual supervisors, the City of Troup adds one holiday that applies equally to all
employees. For the 2026 calendar year, the City Council designated Friday, January 2, 2026, as
the additional holiday in place of Smith County’s Administrative Day.
The adopted 2026 City of Troup Holiday Schedule includes New Year’s Day on Thursday
and Friday, January 1–2, 2026; Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, 2026;
Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 16, 2026; Good Friday on Friday, April 3, 2026; Memorial
Day on Monday, May 25, 2026; Juneteenth on Friday, June 19, 2026; Independence Day
(Observed) on Friday, July 3, 2026; Labor Day on Monday, September 7, 2026; Veterans Day
on Wednesday, November 11, 2026; Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday, November 26–27,
2026; and Christmas on Thursday and Friday, December 24–25, 2026.
By adopting this schedule, the Troup City Council continues its annual practice of providing a
clear and consistent holiday calendar for city employees while ensuring that all staff members
receive the same additional day off each year. The 2026 schedule reflects the City of Troup’s
commitment to fairness, transparency, and thoughtful planning in municipal operations.
