Sergio Olivares named head band director for Bullard Panther Band

Bullard – Bullard ISD is pleased to announce Sergio Olivares as the new head band director for the Bullard Panther Band.

Mr. Olivares, who currently serves as an assistant band director in Bullard ISD, assumes the role following the retirement of longtime band director and performing arts director Gary Jordan at the end of June.

A member of the Bullard ISD family since 2021, Mr. Olivares has worked with students at both the middle school and high school levels. Under his direction, the middle school symphonic and honors concert bands earned sweepstakes honors. He has directed the combined seventh- and eighth-grade marching bands during football season and coordinated recruitment and performances for the sixth-grade beginner band, which includes more than 130 students. At the high school level, he has assisted with the varsity marching band as well as varsity and non-varsity concert bands. Mr. Olivares teaches flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, and bassoon.

Before coming to Bullard ISD, he worked in Brownsboro ISD for three years.

Mr. Olivares earned a Bachelor of Music from Stephen F. Austin State University and holds an EC-12 teaching certification.
