Whitehouse High School teacher Sharon Garner has been named the 2027 Region 7 Secondary Teacher of the Year, earning one of the highest honors for educators in East Texas.
Garner was recognized alongside Emily Greer of Jackson Elementary in Chapel Hill ISD, who was selected as the Region 7 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
The annual awards recognize educators who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, inspire student achievement, and make lasting contributions to their schools and communities.
As Region 7’s top educators, Garner and Greer will now advance to the Texas Teacher of the Year program, where they will represent East Texas and compete with outstanding educators from across the state.
Region 7 Education Service Center congratulated both teachers, praising their dedication, passion for education, and positive impact on students. Officials noted that their leadership and commitment exemplify the highest standards of the teaching profession.
The Texas Teacher of the Year program recognizes exceptional classroom teachers who serve as ambassadors for public education throughout the state.
